There aren\u2019t too many of these floating around \u2013 and if you see one, it\u2019s probably green \u2013 and it\u2019s likely because once you have one you want to keep it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">Being a big Kawasaki, you aren\u2019t exactly aiming for super-exclusivity, and you\u2019re not getting superbike-levels of performance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">But for me, this is exactly what I was after. The battery is huge, the seat is huge, the brakes are huge, the storage and luggage capability is huge \u2013 everything is huge on this bike! And as a result, it weighs a ton \u2013 roughly 56kgs more than the\u00a02002 Honda CBR900RR2 Fireblade. So the shortcomings I\u2019ve experienced with sportsbikes are gone, as this bike is comfortable and beefy enough to handle any extra weight of tankbags, tailpacks or pillions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5521-1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5521-1024-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"2001 ZRX1200R\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5521-1024-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5521-1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-18\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It looks very nice in purple (\u201cmidnight blue\u201d) and silver, with gold accents.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">Pushing it into and out of the shed is a different experience, and not for the faint-hearted. But it\u2019s a small price to pay for what I think might be the perfect compromise between \u201csporty\u201d and \u201ccruiser\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">And have you seen a swingarm like the ZRX\u2019s? The competition \u2013 the Yamaha XJR1300, the Suzuki GSX1400, and the Honda CB1300 \u2013 all have fairly standard, and ugly, box-type swingarms. Instead, Kawasaki have created something just slightly more interesting to go along with the retro \u201cEddie Lawson\u201d paint scheme.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5508-1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5508-1024-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"2001 ZRX1200R\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5508-1024-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.ridelikeaturtle.com\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_5508-1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-16\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Big, bold and beautiful \u2013 it\u2019ll get you and your pillion wherever you want, in style.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">The best part: your pillion won\u2019t hate you after 45mins on the back. The riding position for the rider and the pillion are both quite friendly. But that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s a lazy cruiser, you can definitely get excited if you want! Because of its size, you won\u2019t be doing any track days at your local racetrack or \u201cflicking\u201d the bike back and forth through quick turns, but you can certainly have a good time enjoying the massive torque, accelerating out of bends and stretching your arms a little.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #141412;\">And, unlike your mates with their fancy Yamaha R1s, Suzuki GSXRs and Honda Fireblades, if you want to strap a tent to the back, it\u2019s not a problem.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the\u00a02002 Honda CBR900RR2 Fireblade\u00a0gone, there was an empty place in my heart and my shed, and in my mind there was one bike capable of filling it.
