I barely get my head wet on the rare occasion I go swimming. What in the hell am I gonna do with a 1000m dive watch, when I rarely exceed 1m?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do love myself a good homage, and the Addiesdive MY-H6, an homage to the Halios “Puck”, is one of the best out there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First appearances will scare off a lot of people. After all, the size and shape of it is big, bold, striking – as in “if it struck you in the head, you’d be in trouble”. A big, round, solid lump of steel, the nickname is well deserved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly, it’s not cumbersome to wear. It may be the weightiest of my automatic divers, and is certainly heavier than any of my G-SHOCKs, but not far off the dimensions. Here it is next to the popular GA-2100, one of the slimmest G-SHOCK models, and it actually looks smaller, even though at 46mm it is half a millimeter wider. The design of the case means it’s a good fit. Yeah it’s big, but it’s nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though it’s yet another black face, black bezel dive watch, that big round case makes it unique. To be rated to 1000m, the case needs to be beefy! Although I’ve got more than one black face diver, each one has little quirks and nuances – and I know, 99% do not notice nor care – and this one is no different. The color-matched date window at 6 o’clock is a nice touch, the dial is a deep black that is clean and rich, and the hour and minute hands are super-easy to read at a glance. The seconds hand is fully lumed, a very nice touch. Even the bracelet is comfortable, wide at 22mm, but that suits the massive case very well. The clasp provided is cheap – I’ve already got a milled replacement on the way, with on-the-fly adjustment. The finish and shape of the case are really good, making this a fun inexpensive homage who’s value is much higher than it’s cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONCLUSIONS<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall rating: 9\/10 , with a high “cool factor” for the unique case shape and 1000m depth rating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This model compares very well with similar models in my collection, using the same Seiko NH-35 movement, 316L stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and so on. I do like the crown on this watch more than others, it’s easy to grip and has great feel. Apparently this watch would be a little tougher to modify, as the movement is removed out of the front of the case, and the dial size is slightly bigger. But honestly this is one where I think Addiesdive got it all right and there isn’t much to be gained by opening it up to make changes, they just aren’t needed. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
