A Birthday “Berny” For Me

Berny
Berny AM7081M “Compressor”-style diver

It’s been a while since my last watch post, and I’ve added, and subtracted, a few from the collection. Looking at the watches in the box, when there are more than a couple that just never find their way into the rotation, it was time to do some thinning. There was some redundancies in features, style, and wearability, and I see no point in having a watch that realistically I’ll never wear.

When I saw this particular watch reviewed, I knew this would fit nicely in the rotation. The yellow color is fantastic, making it very readable with the contrast to the hands, and I very much like the red secondhand. The “compressor” style case is quite chunky and cool, and the internal rotating bezel is interesting and unique. I love the big knurled buttons, the waffle-board section of the dial, and the 3-day date window. The lume is quite good too, an added bonus.

Other features (for the watch nerds out there) include: applied indices, a sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel case, see-through caseback, 200m water resistance, and a super-comfortable, soft and very good-looking patterned silicone strap. It has a Miyota automatic movement, housed in a 42mm case that is 14mm thick. A big presence, but it wears beautifully even with that robust industrial look.

The quality of the watch at this price point is just stunning. I don’t spend a lot on any watch, as I like to have quite a range of them in my collection, which is why I gravitate to Seiko and Casio, you get massive “bang for the buck”, and this Berny is no different.
